The budgeted hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $26.39 - $28/hr.

* Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $26.39 to $44.78/hr.

Brief Summary of Job Duties

Under general supervision, serves as the analyst for the University Library Development Team, supporting a complex and multifaceted University-wide program in coordination with Central Development's Prospect Management, Development Research, Donor Relations and Foundation Relations units. Provides leadership for all analytical functions that support the strategic goals, initiatives and projects that secure philanthropic support from individuals, foundations and organizations to the University Library. Under the general direction of the Director of Development, University Library, establishes, develops and maintains comprehensive systems within the unit in coordination with central Development Office; supports leadership in short- and long-term strategic planning and project management for program development and implementation which is focused on achieving operational and fundraising goals for the University Library. Proactively plans, organizes, and attends strategy meetings and coordinates follow up for $25,000+ prospects; prepares materials and reports that analyze the activities, progress, and goals of the Development Team; ensures the consistency, timeliness and accuracy of information disseminated to donors, prospects, and internal constituents. Reviews and analyzes data as it relates to fundraising strategies and prospect identification and management and associated trends. Coordinates communication and works closely with the Development Research and Donor Relations & Stewardship units on collaborative projects and related prospect issues. Identifies, manages and completes special projects for other Library fundraising goals as needed. Responsible for a high level of prospect and gift analysis and research, providing analytical reporting to the Directors, Senior Director and Associate Vice Chancellor ("AVC"). Proactively identifies issues and solutions, and makes recommendations to the Senior Director and Library Development Director. This role contributes to the overall goals and success of the unit. Must be able to work under pressure of frequently shifting priorities and deadlines. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within the division of Institutional Advancement, the Library Development Team and the broader campus community. High level of initiative, creativity and energy. Ability to work independently. The Analyst will be privy to sensitive materials, information and planning; therefore, the position requires the utmost degree of confidentiality. Maintains in depth knowledge of University policies and procedures and state and federal regulations related to fund raising and accepted business practices; uses exceptional analytical skills, excellent composition, grammar and editing skills, and various database and software tools necessary to accomplish assigned tasks. #LI-KA1

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and e-mail and demonstrated ability to quickly learn various software programs.

  • Experience with donor database or CRM software (e.g. Advance, Raiser's Edge, Blackbaud, etc.)

Job Functions/Percentage of Time/Duties

  • Coord. & Project Management, & Strategic Development - 50% Plans, organizes, attends, tracks and coordinates follow up for strategy management meetings for $25,000+ Library interest projects/prospects, and creates action plan to manage next steps. Coordinates with central prospect management to track strategy meeting outcomes and next steps. Plans, organizes and attends quarterly strategy meetings with development officer(s) to review $25,000+ prospect portfolio. Conducts research directly, as well as in coordination with central development research, on major, principal and leadership gift prospects and suspects; supports research on key leadership/principal gift campus-wide initiatives and makes recommendations. Develops planning tools, reports, presentations, and trainings to enhance team building and address the business needs of the overall fundraising operation. Works collaboratively with Advancement Services to ensure the data integrity of $25,000+ prospect information, suggest enhancements, and develop new reporting. Synthesizes material from multiple sources, compiles and edits into coherent, accurate and concise profiles and summaries, using established standards of style, grammar and content. Helps prepare, review and edits gift proposals and gift letters. Helps coordinate and prepare DOs and Senior Administrators for major gift donor visits, solicitations, and high level events. Under general direction of Directors and Senior Director, assists with any special projects on behalf of the Office of Development. Maintains a close and effective working relationship with other development units, facilitating collaborative efforts between teams. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Development for the University Library.
  • Complex Analysis & Reporting - 35%

COMPLEX ANALYSIS: Maintains an active awareness of goals, objectives, and directions of the development program as a whole. In conjunction with Senior Director and Directors develops a comprehensive plan that addresses the goals, objectives and needs set by the University Library Development Officer. Provides analytical support utilizing a solid understanding of UCSB Foundation financial reports, Advance database, AWA reports, and UC policies and practices. Interprets prospect and donor information and facilitates communication regarding prospects to staff of all levels and technical abilities. Requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Troubleshoots/problem solves regularly to obtain required information that will coordinate and track fundraising activity. Performs analyses to assess the effectiveness of overall strategies.

REPORTING AND DATA ANALYTICS: Uses Advance to develop ad-hoc database queries to identify and segment target populations, analyze prospect and donor constituencies, and support a range of business decisions. Creates reports for Director of Development, reviews current and past reports and makes recommendations for follow up with donors. Produces tailored gift reports and background data from the Advance database for use in meetings with senior administrators, faculty, Trustees, and volunteers. Develops new analytical reports that provide accurate projections of gifts in the pipeline and demographic snapshots of prospect pool. Prepares and distributes prospect management reports. Provides ongoing analyses of the data in these reports to identify relevant trends, interprets content of narrative reports and other submitted information to pull out key information and communicates that information to senior staff.

  • Training & Stewardship Support - 15%

Stays abreast of current and emerging trends in prospect management, philanthropy, fundraising, and higher education and shares information with development colleagues. Maintains the DevNet resource as it relates to the University Library policies, procedures and templates for gift letters, proposals, process. Assists with Stewardship Reporting and benefit fulfillment for donors at all levels. - Assist with stewardship event planning and execution for major gift and leadership donors.
