SUMMARY:

The Continuous Improvement Lead, shall assist all departments in mapping out workflows, removing waste and low-value activities, and recommending solutions. Guided by formal methodologies like kaizen, this position will take the lead in implementing changes, acting as a leader, program manager, and mentor throughout different areas of the organization. The most successful candidates will have experience working in Plant Operations and in Kaizen. Ultimate responsibility is to identify and improve the outcomes of manufacturing and operational processes to improve efficiencies, reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Act as an internal consultant, develop short- and long-term strategies for the organization while incorporating Lean/Six Sigma and other practices to facilitate progress and reduce costs, both in terms of sales and workflow inefficiencies.
  • Drive change across the organization by analyzing existing processes using various methods, such as gap analysis, RC/CA, and PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act), in pursuit of continuous improvement.
  • Participate in internal audits and the auditing of Root Cause analysis reports as they relate to product consistency, customer complaints, and internal off-spec investigations.
  • Participate in Kaizen Audits to help eliminate opportunities for reoccurrence.
  • Reviewing and evaluating lab data and corrective action reports submitted by Subject Matter Experts.
  • Follow up with Subject Matter Experts to ensure timely corrective action reports are provided.
  • Support the generation of statistical data for operations, sales, and management.

Requirements
  • 4-year degree in science related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement Principles required. Black Belt Six-Sigma Certification preferred.
  • Experienced in training and implementing Lean Manufacturing in a working environment preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of operations experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills - written; internal email, correspondence with customers, managers, etc.
  • Good organizational skills - collecting and analyzing data, maintaining status reports, managing lab samples, conducting corrective action follow-ups.
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office Software Applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Power point and basic database experience.
  • Candidate should demonstrate strong customer focus and work ethic of seeking continual improvement.
  • Must be team oriented and able to work well with teams representing ALL areas of the organization.
