Job Summary

We are looking for an Accounting professional with strong experience to join our General Accounting department. In this role, you'll be responsible for all facets of preparing and submitting weekly invoices to our primary customer; leading the month-end close process; preparing journal entries and account reconciliations; and interfacing with our external and government auditors. We are looking for a team player who likes to go the extra mile!

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leads the monthly close process by recording and reviewing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and preparing supporting schedules
  • Prepares detailed account analyses and reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts
  • Monitors progress of close activities and keeps management apprised of progress
  • Seeks to continuously improve closing processes and related documentation
  • Prepares invoices for certain Aerospace government and commercial customers
  • Acts as primary point of contact regarding billing and invoicing inquiries as well as other functions from internal and external auditors
  • Leads international accounting activities
  • Reviews requests, determines scope of request, obtains documentation, and prepares for manager review before releasing to auditors
  • Assists other Staff Accountants as needed
  • Leads and coordinates departmental projects and initiatives as assigned

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Six (6) or more years of progressively responsible experience in the accounting field Proven understanding of accounting principles, GAAP; Understanding of diverse accounting subject matter and reporting requirements
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft)
  • Experience preparing auditor schedules and/or analyzing accounting data using Microsoft Excel
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, with a customer service focus
  • Position requires attendance on Friday during month-end close
  • Position requires working a standard 5-day schedule and occasionally working in excess of standard working hours during fiscal year-end preparation, close, and audit (September through December)
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • CPA with public accounting experience
  • Experience in general accounting operations including month and yearend close, journal entries, account reconciliations and audit schedules
  • SAP software experience (e.g., FI, CO, and/or PS)
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and submitting invoices to multiple customers within prescribed deadlines
  • Experience with parent/subsidiary accounting and reporting
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel's advanced functionality, including Power Query, Visual Basic, and/or Power Pivot
  • Experience with system implementation projects
  • Experience documenting accounting desk procedures
  • Experience with and understanding of government contracting regulations (FAR, CAS), overhead rates and different contract types (CPFF, FFP, T&M, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with a keen understanding of deadlines

We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$85,000 - $100,000 - $115,000
