The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho we are seeking an Associate Operator/ Operator to fill multiple positions in our Summers Ridge Manufacturing facility. The Associate Operator/ Operator position is responsible for manufacturing and assembling products as required by the production schedule.

These positions are in our San Diego, CA Summers Ridge location.

Multiple Shifts Available: Monday- Friday: 1st shift 6:00 am -2:30 pm (straight) 2nd shift (10% shift differential) 2:00 pm -10:30 pm 3rd Shift (13% shift differential) 10:00 pm- 6:30 am

25 Positions Available: Onsite interviews will be conducted on Thursday March 2 2023 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm 9975 Summers Ridge San Diego, CA 92121

The Responsibilities
  • Responsible for mastering all existing and new packaging equipment and processes to bottle, label, and package product.

  • Ensures all products are processed, packaged and labeled in compliance with organization QSOP and SOP(s) under GMP conditions (if applicable).

  • Follows appropriate guidelines established in product and process documentation.

  • Maintains machinery used in the production process and keeps work area organized, safe, and clean.

  • Expert at change-over and operation of all labeling and packaging equipment and troubleshoot if necessary.

  • Assists in Molecular Clean rooms and/or Cell Culture department as necessary.

  • Works closely with other groups to ensure production timelines are met.

  • Keeps the supervisor informed of any discrepancies or issues.

  • Assists with the training of new hires and temporary employees in the production process and equipment use.

  • Maintains a team environment.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Assists in other areas if needed.

The Individual

Required Level I:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Familiarity with basic laboratory devices and equipment plus some mechanical aptitude.

  • Understands, applies and enforces the appropriate PPE required for job responsibilities.

  • Excellent understanding of teamwork and cooperation skills.

  • Mathematical computation is necessary to compile data for completing batch records.

  • Good oral and written communication skills, organizational abilities, flexibility, attention to detail and positive interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to use a computer and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.

Required Level II:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-2 years' of experience with automation equipment or heavy machinery equipment.

  • Experience in a manufacturing setting.

Preferred Level I and II:

  • 6 months of experience with automation equipment or heavy machinery equipment.

  • Familiarity with current GMP and ISO quality regulations and comfortable working in a highly structured, documented environment.

Key Working Relationships

Internal Partners: Production management and receives instruction from the Lead Operator. May interact with Supply Chain regarding materials issuance and returns for packaging jobs. May provide direction to Packaging Specialists as required.

External Partners: Suppliers

Work Environment

Work environment is a manufacturing setting. Long hours are occasionally required in order to comply with the Production Schedule and Manufacturing demands. Must have ability to manipulate packaging and correctly apply labels, ability to hear and operate laboratory machinery, and visually monitor products for Quality Standards. It is essential to maneuver quickly throughout the laboratory environment. Must have the ability to sit, stand and bend without constraints. Must have unrestricted use of wrists and hands and excellent dexterity. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. from above head without issue. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to see color, and the ability to adjust focus. Essential functions are subject to change as other duties may be assigned.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $21,400.00 to $40,000.00 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays.
