Job Description

We are hiring a Senior Process Controls Engineer reporting to the Process Control Leader. This role may be based out of our corporate headquarters in Columbia, MD, or our sites in Pasadena, TX, or Baton Rouge, LA with a hybrid schedule. Global and domestic travel amounts depend on projects, normally around 25% but may be up to 50% during commissioning.

The Senior Process Control Engineer has global responsibility as a technical lead and Subject Matter Expert providing automation and controls expertise and support to engineers, project managers, and third-party automation vendors for large automation projects.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure global automation improvements are implemented with a focus on Grace's project management methodologies, global process automation program, and global process automation standards.
  • Serve as technical lead for projects with a large automation scope throughout the manufacturing network and work with colleagues to find the best solution to project needs. Leverage best practices from projects executed at other sites where practical.
  • Participate in productivity initiatives targeting reduced raw material and energy consumption, increased production rates, and improved product quality by leveraging improvements in Process Automation.
  • Subject Matter Expert for key controls questions, mentor junior engineers, and serve as trainer within Grace.
  • Develop and deploy process automation standards like: alarm management, high-performance level 1 HMI, functional requirement specification, cyber security, and state-based control.
  • Complete project milestones in accordance with project schedules to meet overall project implementation schedule.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (chemical preferred)
  • 15 years of experience working in a manufacturing/industrial environment in a technical role.
  • 5+ years of experience with process automation and controls including control systems, instrumentation, and standards deployment in a chemical environment.
  • 5+ years of technical experience in a chemical manufacturing environment-operations/production/process engineer.
  • Hands-on experience with programming control logic for DCS systems; preferably Honeywell or Emerson platforms.
  • Experience with Process control configuration anddeveloping process control narratives and functional requirement specifications.
  • Project scope development and definition experience.
  • Ability to travel 25% to sites consistently with intermittent and limited periods of 50% travel
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Strong operations and project execution experience in a related industry preferred.

  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
