Job Description

Grace is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer for our South Haven Site. The South Haven Site produces a portfolio of products for the specialty pharmaceutical industries, specifically Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients. Consisting of a cGMP kilo lab, pilot plant and custom manufacturing at the commercial volumes, the site is fully equipped to develop and manufacture custom drug intermediates and API's. South Haven is nestled on the coast of Lake Michigan with beautiful beaches and fun year-round.

The function of a Chemical Process Engineer is to ensure that process operations in the production and small scale facilities perform in a safe, predictable, and consistent manner, and are in keeping with safety, environmental, cGMP, and economic concerns in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. The engineer will lead project teams in the development and introduction of new processes.

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the engineers develop and provide training on the process operating documents for production and small scale manufacturing. This is done in cooperation with other departments, vendors, and/or customers to ensure processes are safe, predictable, effective and economical.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor processes and make process variable changes
  • Create and modify logbooks and procedures
  • Manage process control systems
  • Manage the safe and timely implementation of projects, new processes, and maintenance turnarounds
  • Design and implement process changes in procedures and equipment
  • Identify and properly handle hazardous waste, which may include proper collection, packaging, labeling, segregation, storage, use of waste manifest and shipping according to company procedures and instruction
  • Manage hazardous waste in compliance with regulations #WRGRACE, #INDEED
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Chemical Engineering and 1-3years of experience in manufacturing
  • Batch manufacturing experience in a cGMP environment highly desired
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently in all aspects of process engineering
  • Experience in a manufacturing or process development environment
  • Batch control, process simulation experience
