This internship program will begin Monday June 5th and will end Friday, August 11th. The pay is $16/hour and the position is expected to be full-time over those 10 weeks. This will be a hybrid internship. The Emerging Professionals Summer Internship Program (EPSIP) is a paid internship experience for talented college students. Individuals historically underrepresented in STEM, health science and medicine are strongly encouraged to apply. Introduction to Scientific Marketing and Communication The RNA Therapeutics Institute (RTI) faculty are recognized as scientific trailblazers, and include a Nobel Laureate, the 2018 RNA Society early and mid-career award recipients, and two Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigators. The student will be exposed to a department conducting world-renowned research, as well the opportunity to learn how to assist with increasing visibility of the RTI through multiple platforms to a variety of audiences in real-world contexts. The student will also learn how to communicate the need for basic science, and which modes of communication are best for a range of audiences. The student will gain experience in the following areas:
The student will have the opportunity to interact with alumni, students, research faculty and staff to gain knowledge and understanding of the activities in the department. At the end of the internship:
Candidates should have an eye for visual communication, social media experience, experience/interest in photo/video/writing/editing, interest in science/education, and the ability to adhere to tight deadlines. Enthusiasm and attention to detail are necessary. Responsibilities REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in at least one of the following areas is required: journalism, marketing, writing, professional social media, graphic design/visual arts, interviewing, website content development or photography/videography. |
