Role Summary

The Operations Analyst will play an important role in assisting the Account Management and Relationship Management Teams with client audits and penalty notices in accordance with the 56 US jurisdictions' abandoned property laws. The role provides research for ineligible property based on dormancy triggers, proof of contact, proof of deliveries, and final assistance with delivering property to the states to settle client audits. For penalty notices, the goal is to resolve date of last contact issues with the states, request abatement or file claims to pay the fines.

Business Function

Escheatment is the process of transferring a shareholder's assets that are considered abandoned property, remitting the shares and funds to the appropriate state, if the shareholder cannot be contacted through the process of Due Diligence. As the transfer agent this team is responsible for managing escheatment for EQ's corporate clients across all states and jurisdictions on an annual basis. Escheatment follows three recognized cycles; spring, fall, and California which must be met in order to avoid state audits and penalties.

Core Duties/Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:



  • Analyzes and solves a variety of operational, systems-related and/or customer transactional issues.
  • Research of 3rd party audit requests from Account Management for unclaimed property.
  • Producing and maintaining reports and third party reports, providing answers for audit and call center inquiries.
  • Pull proof of contact for client penalty notices, follow up with the jurisdictions and Relationship Management.
  • Work directly with the states regarding unclaimed property filing issues.
  • Follow standard processes and execution or research inquiries.
  • Complete the escheatment of shares and funds to the state auditors.
  • Submit claims to complete payment of penalties for the clients.
  • Knowledge of the escheatment process and laws.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • May have contact with clients.
  • Minimal supervision.

  • Knowledge of the stock market and stock industry

  • Ability to navigate multiple computer systems, applications, and utilize search tools to find information


Experience Requirements



  • 5+ years of operations experience, analytical experience, reporting experience, or a combination
  • Financial services experience


Education Requirements



  • High school Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • College degree preferred, but not required.
