Coating & Paint Technician (Weekend Shift)

As part of a small, passionate, diverse, accomplished and rapidly evolving team of experts, you will assemble major launch vehicle structures, secondary structure, and other spaceflight systems. Qualifications (Required):

  • 5 or more years of experience in coating, finishing, painting
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience finishing and painting in either Aircraft, Automotive or Marine Industry
  • Ability to work C Shift: Thursday - Saturday 5am - 5:30pm
  • Work closely with experienced coating applicators and Department Leads to complete work and prioritize tasks
  • Perform touchup and painting, both spray and brush, per inspection requirements.

  • Prepare surfaces to provide proper adhesion and/or perform finishing of painted surfaces.

  • Prepare to proper consistency various paints, primers, enamels, clear coatings, etc.

  • Spray and/or brush any required prime necessary to accomplish work assignments.

  • Prepare and set up all equipment and supplies to perform work assignment

  • Coordinate with other organizations, such as safety, environmental and fire, to ensure shop is prepared for certain paint operations.

  • Apply temporary protective materials to facilitate follow-on operations.

  • Clean and service spray guns, brushes, hoses and related equipment after using.

  • Mask required areas to facilitate corrosion removal or painting operations.

  • Check finished part/hardware to ensure that it meets specifications

  • Mix selected coating liquid to per the job traveler and drawing requirement

  • Interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions and test procedures

  • Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges and optical measuring instruments

  • Work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills, fields, and backgrounds

  • Communicate clearly and appropriately, in writing and in person

  • Basic digital literacy such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.

  • Repetitively climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas

  • Perform repetitive work, including lifting of items up to 35lbs

  • Operate various material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, truck-trailer combinations, and other ground support equipment as required

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Ability to support scheduled work shift (we rotate shifts occasionally) and work off-shift (2nd or 3rd shifts), extended hours, and weekends if/when vital

  • Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

  • Understand clean as you go techniques and need for general cleanliness

  • Experience in application of sealants, adhesives, paints, and primers

  • Be able to manage flight and non-flight hardware

  • Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field

  • Demonstrated success as a "hands-on" doer and/or leader

  • Work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with constantly evolving roles and responsibilities

  • Continuous improvement mentality. Our job is never complete; we are always refining and improving

  • Drive to understand the details of our business and how to optimize it

  • Experience in handling large aerospace components
