Compliance Program Manager

Job Description

JOB OBJECTIVE: As part of Promega's legal team, the Compliance Program Manager is responsible for the development and oversight of a compliance program for Promega's global business, including implementing best practices, process improvements, policies, risk management, and training.

CORE DUTIES:

1. Work closely with Promega's legal, finance & accounting, information technology, wellness, trade compliance, human resources, purchasing, supplier quality, regulatory and medical affairs departments, among others, to support and develop Promega's global program.

2. Evaluate, develop, and lead global compliance program initiatives including execution of policies and procedures, risk assessments, controls, training, monitoring, and investigations. Support revision of compliance policies and procedures to adapt to new legal/regulatory obligations and evolving business needs. Conduct compliance education and training programs. Create and maintain documentation of the foregoing activities.

3. Serve as a source of expertise on compliance and a main point of contact for other departments at the company and company branches. Collaborate with other departments and branches to understand relevant compliance requirements and associated risk, implement compliance policies, and support compliance initiatives tailored to the specific department or branch needs.

4. Respond to customer surveys and business partner assessments related to compliance.

5. Oversee the company's domestic transparency reporting obligations and ensure that such reporting requirements are met and any updates to rules and regulations are addressed and implemented within current business practice. Work with international branches to ensure all global deadlines related to such submissions and reporting of data are met.

6. Serve as chair of Promega's Compliance Committee and support the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors on compliance-related matters.

7. Work closely with in-house attorneys to conduct and/or support compliance-related investigations ensuring any issues/concerns are properly evaluated and resolved. Conduct and/or support internal compliance-related audits and respond to audit findings.

8. Maintain an in-depth understanding of relevant regulations, laws, and industry guidance, including, but not limited to: IT regulatory requirements (such as ISO), privacy requirements (such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation and California Consumer Privacy Act), anti-bribery requirements (such as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act), and health care regulatory requirements (such as HIPAA, the U.S. Physician Payments Sunshine Act, AdvaMed's Code of Ethics on Interactions with Health Care Professionals, and MedTech Europe Code of Ethical Business Practice).

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree or relevant experience and 7+ years of compliance experience, preferably at a life science company.

2. Experience implementing new processes and testing current processes for effectiveness.

3. Experience managing business partners to include assessments and responses.

4. Independent, self-starter with proven results in problem identification, planning, communication and project management.

5. Sound judgment and the highest integrity and ethical judgment.

6. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Ability to use computer equipment.

2. Some occasional moderate lifting (up to 20 pounds) may be required.
