Description

Performs hand and arm scrub according to Department Policy and Procedure. Dons sterile gown and gloves. Sets up instrumentation and equipment as dictated by Department guidelines. Performs counts with the circulating nurse before, during and after the procedure as required. Assists surgeons gown, glove, and after skin preparation is completed, assist with the draping. Safely passes instruments, sponges, and sutures during the procedure. Maintains the sterile field and ensures that all members of the team adhere to specific technique. Verifies and prepares medications and solutions to be administered within the sterile field, and maintains an accurate accounting of amounts used. Handles all specimens in an appropriate fashion: specimen name, body location, and proper disposition. Provides safe patient care and maintains patient dignity. Assists in application of dressings and casts. Handles all instrumentation in a careful manner. Upon completion of the procedure, prepares instruments and equipment for cleaning. Assists with operating room clean up following the Universal Precautions. Proficient in scrubbing in one or more specialty service.

Salary range: $42.57-$42.57 Hourly

Qualifications

Working knowledge of the function and operation of operating room equipment. Working knowledge of surgical procedures; anatomy and the correct terminology. Ability to provide information, explain policies and procedures to team members. Ability to speak, write and read English. Ability to set priorities, recognize emergency situations and take the appropriate action under the direction of the nurse in charge. Work independently and follow through on all assignments. Ability to move objects, such as heavy carts and handle surgical equipment safely. Preferred knowledge of Eye surgical procedures. Ability to work (On-Call) Weekends and Holidays.
