$16.00 per hour. This seasonal full-time, non-exempt, position is located at the Anoka County Parks Department Maintenance Shop located in Andover, MN.

Hours
Seasonal Full-time; 40 hours per pay week.
Work schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Schedule may vary based on business needs and at supervisor discretion.

The Anoka County Parks Department has a Seasonal Park Maintenance worker- Operations/GIS Internship available. This position will support the Parks Maintenance Unit in a wide variety of administrative tasks, research projects, inventory updates, daily operations tasks, and projects within an 11,000-acre county parks department. The position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, through the season.

This seasonal full-time, non-exempt, position is located at the Anoka County Parks Department Maintenance Shop located in Andover, MN.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Duties and Responsibilities
These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Seasonal Park Maintenance Worker- Operations/ GIS Internship.

  • Assist in asset preservation planning utilizing ArcGIS Collector app for in field data gathering.
  • Update, maintain and develop comprehensive management plans and operations manuals.
  • Develop "Standard Operations Procedures" (SOP).
  • Research new cost effective and efficient products, resources, equipment, and software.
  • Assist with purchasing processes and budget management.
  • Conduct, update and manage inventory (resources and power equipment).
  • Interaction with outside support groups (volunteers, Anoka County Corrections Crew, Conservation Corps Minnesota).
  • OSHA & Anoka County Risk Management inspection report review and corrective action plans.
  • Hands-on Park maintenance operations, such as: mowing, cleaning, waste management, construction tasks, landscaping, facility and building maintenance, etc.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary education program in Parks and Recreation, Leisure Services, GIS or closely related field.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Valid Class D Minnesota driver's license.
  • Must successfully pass criminal history and driver's license background checks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous park maintenance experience.
  • Hand tool and small equipment experience.
  • GPS and GIS experience including ArcGIS/ArcOnline.
  • Asset management software experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Work independently.
  • Multi-task.
  • Communicate effectively (written and oral).
  • Effectively interact with members of the public and other parks staff.

Work Environment

This position requires work to be performed both outdoors and indoors. Outdoor duties may be performed in extremes of weather conditions (wind, rain/snow, heat, cold). Indoor duties will be performed in both office and shop settings.

GRADE LEVEL

Salary
$16.00 per hour.
