PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for providing engineering support to our Operations partners at our Renewal by Andersen location in Cottage Grove, MN. Primary focus will be on monitoring, controlling, and improving existing manufacturing processes, and to ensure customer and business needs are met.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide operational technical support for existing applications and processes
  • Utilize effective lean process design techniques to optimize overall manufacturing system performance by providing innovative solutions that integrate within the value stream.
  • Plan, organize, and lead technical aspects of large-scale assignments to successful conclusion
  • Create training tools, documents, and standard operating procedures for production processes ensuring consistent manufacturability
  • Evaluate impact of proposed product/process changes on other products, materials, strategies, or other technical issues
  • Partner with the Safety group to ensure all new or modified processes meet or exceed corporate safety requirements
  • Identify causes of process variation utilizing the scientific method and recommend and drive corrective action
  • Accurately assess ergonomic conditions within the manufacturing environment and provide practical solutions to eliminate ergonomic risk
  • Exhibit persuasiveness to sell continuous improvement ideas to value stream management and delivery partners
  • Drive corrective action through root cause identification and structured problem solving
  • Ensure built in quality by using DMAIC tools: Process mapping, process capability, C&E Matrix, fishbone diagram, FMEA, MSA, DOE, Control Plans

QUALIFICATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or equivalent engineering experience
  • 3+ years of engineering experience preferred with mechanical aptitude
  • Demonstrate an understanding and application of methodologies associated with project planning and experience working with collaborative cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrate knowledge of lean manufacturing principals
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Communicate effectively through written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills
  • Knowledge and experience with quality systems, statistical process control, process capability and lean manufacturing tools
  • Knowledge of 2D & 3D solid modeling preferred (AutoCad/Inventor)
  • Some travel may be required, primary location Cottage Grove, MN

PROFIT SHARING:
In 2023, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
