Job Summary:
  • Operates a variety of heavy equipment, vehicles, and tooling utilized in plant production activities. Primary duties will be based in Aggregate Operations (Quarry and/or Sand/Gravel/Concrete)
  • Highly qualified candidates will have experience operating multiple pieces of equipment in related field. All candidates will be required to assist with other tasks related to concrete construction. This would be a great opportunity to cross train on multiple types of equipment. All prospective candidates should enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather, be open to working in a fast-paced environment, and have the ability provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
  • Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
  • Support the Simon safety culture and other Company strategic initiatives
  • Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly
  • Operate heavy equipment, including, but not limited to, loaders, dozers, backhoes, skid steers, excavators, and other mobile equipment used in Aggregate Operations
  • Operate other tools and equipment as required for assigned tasks
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance tasks, including but not limited to as greasing and checking oil and fluids
  • Drive company vehicles to worksites and company locations when authorized
  • Perform preventative maintenance duties on crushing including but not limited to crushers, screens, conveyors, etc.
Education:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Valid drivers' license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required
  • Class A CDL preferred but not required
Skills:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience in mining operations preferably quarries and/or portable crushing operations
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience and/or training in operation of heavy equipment operation preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Experience working with MSHA and environmental agencies preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects
  • Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
  • Regularly required to work from a seated position operating equipment for long periods
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
  • Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
  • Occasionally exposed to working from high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock
  • Position will be required to travel between the Northern and Southern Hills area with potential travel to our Wyoming operations
Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation*: $24.00-$28.00 per hour DOE

*Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual's qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.

Benefits: All full-time hourly employees are eligible to participate in Simon benefits as defined in plan documents.
