Career growth and development Tuition Assistance Diverse and collaborative working environment Affordable and comprehensive benefits package Day Shift: 8:30am-5pm Position Summary: The Cytotechnologist, under the general supervision of the Cytopathology Supervisor of Technical Operations, microscopically examines human cellular samples from various body sites in accordance with departmental procedures and policies; considering clinical history of the patient, marks pertinent findings; makes final cytologic interpretation for gynecologic cell samples which are within normal limits; makes the preliminary cytologic interpretation for non-gynecologic samples and abnormal gynecologic samples; performs quality control checks; teaches cytopathologic modalities to cytotechnology students, residents, fellows, visitors; assists in various research projects; performs other related duties. Minimum Qualifications: Education: A bachelors degree and must have graduated from an approved cytotechnology program as outlined in CLIA >88 (Fed. Register Friday, Feb. 28, 1992 Vol. 57 No. 40). Course work in molecular modalities is highly desirable. Work Experience: Prefer 2 years of cytotechnology experience screening gynecological and non-gynecological specimens including fine needle aspirations. Required Licensure, Certification, etc. Must qualify as a cytotechnologist under CLIA 88, Must successfully pass the State of Maryland Proficiency Test in Cytology within six months of hire. ASCP certification preferred *Effective January 1st 2022, you must be fully vaccinated with an FDA COVID-19 vaccination and provide proof of your vaccination status as part of your new employee pre-boarding.
