The Chargemaster Coordinator is responsible for the maintenance of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Charge Description Master (CDM). This includes: 1) working with administrative / clinical management of departments to review the CDM and charge tickets; 2) conducting training sessions for clinical personnel on proper charge entry; 3) communicating to clinical administration changes in coding and billing requirements; 4) assisting clinical administration in implementation of CDM changes; 5) assisting patient financial services in CDM related and claim problem resolutions; 6) coordinating all necessary activities to ensure up to date CDM and charge tickets and communicating regulatory changes pertinent to each specific department across JHH outpatient departments.

Hours:

Full time (40 hours per week)

Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm

Location: Remote

Our organization is registered for remote work in the following states: MD, VA, DC, FL, PA, and DE. To be considered for a remote position, relocation is required to one of the registered states if not currently residing in one.

Requirements:

Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of 4 years of coding, compliance and/or clinical documentation experience in an acute hospital environment.

Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.

CPC-H CPC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT or other coding certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Responsibilities:

Requires excellent knowledge of medical terminology, billing requirements and health care information systems.

Requires a complete and thorough understanding of ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS, and UB92 codes along with their assignment and compatibility.

Requires in-depth knowledge of clinical coding and documentation standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Requires a comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology (as defined by the Medical Diagnostic Categories), and all body systems.

Requires considerable knowledge and understanding regarding the State of Maryland HSCRC regulations

Requires strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; the ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of hospital management and staff is essential.

Demonstrated ability to read and understand complex billing and compliance regulations, especially as they relate to coding and billing.

Requires the ability to plan and prioritize multiple tasks with limited direct supervision.

Requires strong analytical skills to be able to reconcile HSCRC and Government requirements pertinent to the maintenance of the CDM and implement them in clinical environment.

PC and PC applications and the ability to use standard office equipment. Proficiency with KEANE, and MS ACCESS is preferred.
