The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation's naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy's submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking an experienced paralegal to provide support to the Office of General Counsel, which provides legal services and subject matter expertise on a variety of legal matters for a Department of Energy owned contractor operated research and development laboratory. Reporting to the Division Manager of Litigation, Employment and Labor Law, the paralegal will be responsible for supporting the team on a variety of legal issues and projects. Essential job functions include providing day to day paralegal services with respect to litigation, arbitrations, investigations, subpoena and information requests, FOIAs, Privacy Act Requests and other legal matters. Responsibilities also include supporting the discovery process, document reviews and releases, preparation of litigation and legal reports, drafting correspondence and maintaining indexes. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Associate degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of five years of relevant experience or; Bachelor degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of three years of relevant experience. Prior paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate, in-house legal office is required.

Preferred Skills

Demonstrated detail oriented, organized, motivated, and capable of managing multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated strong team player, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision when needed. Ability to adapt to change, work under deadlines, use good judgment, be reliable and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Working knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel required. Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
