Requirements Police Sergeant, Georgetown University Police Department (GUPD) - Georgetown University The mission of is to protect the Georgetown University community, ensuring a safe and secure learning and living environment through trusting partnerships and professional police services. Our officers are commissioned special police, vested through the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department. The Police Sergeant serves as Watch Commander during their tour of duty and supervises patrol officers assigned to provide safety and security to the Georgetown University Main Campus and Medical Center. Working Conditions and Physical Demands: Very Heavy: Daily requirements to move items up to 20lbs of weight. Frequently required over 50lbs of weight and walk or stand with operation of controls. Occasionally tasked with moving items weighing over 100lbs. Essential Staff: The Police Sergeant is designated as Essential under the University Personnel policy guidelines and therefore is subject to be on-call when necessary. They must be willing and available to work extended, odd, or off hours to achieve the expectations and requirements of the Department - to include rotating tours of duty (day shifts, evening shifts, overnight shifts) with fluctuating days off.
