  • Position Summary

The Department of Vocational Services at Maine Medical Center is hiring people like you to provide on-the-job support to youth and adults with disabilities as part of its work with the Maine Bureau of Rehabilitation Services (BRS), providing community employment services to individuals referred by BRS in Cumberland and York County. Preference will be given to applicants with ASL proficiency, as demonstrated by ASLA-intermediate or ASLPI-3 or higher.

      The Employment Specialist II supports individuals to learn and perform their work duties toward the goal of maximum independence. They utilize leadership, communication, and analytical skills in their role as a liaison to employees, employers, and Lead Employment Specialists. This part-time schedule guarantees 20 hours per week, with the potential to work up to 32 hours. Training and case specific instruction is provided.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)



    • Education: Requires general education development necessary to provide supervision and training to people with disabilities at a level normally acquired through completion of two years of college. Completion of the Maine Employment Curriculum preferred.


    • License/Certifications: N/A


    • Experience: Six months of previous job coaching experience and/or experience working with people with disabilities in a related field preferred.


    • Requires analytical ability necessary to provide training and guidance to people with disabilities and evaluate performance.
