Asphalt Screed Operator - Cornelius, NC

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must have a basic knowledge of the mechanics, hydraulics, and the limitations of the paver.
• Must have a knowledge of various asphalt mixes.
• Must have a basic knowledge of various grade situations and grade ability to obtain correct drainage.
• Must be capable of screeding asphalt to provide an accurate and quality finished paving product.
• Must be able to receive and carry out detailed instructions, but also be able to work without direct supervision at all times.
• Must be self-motivated at all times to provide a quality finished product for the Company and its customers.
• Must have the ability to work safely in job site situations and follow the policies and procedures of the Company.

• Must have 6 months to 1 year of experience
• Must have knowledge of various asphalt mixes
• Must have experience working in and around construction equipment
• Provide own transportation to and from work

* Must be able to climb onto, and up and down, a machine several times a day.
* Must be able to sit in a machine and operate for several hours without stopping.
* Must withstand vibration from job site conditions as well as noise from other equipment.
* Must be able to use arms, hands, and feet in repetitive motions.
* Must be able to perform manual duties such as placing paint drums on the vehicle.

The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employees must have 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses. Hearing should be excellent or corrected by audio device.

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
