Our Network Intelligence team is part of UnitedHealthcare's Healthcare Economics group. Function is to research and investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and healthcare costs data. We partner with Network Management to improve healthcare cost and maximize member discounts through modeling, forecasting and analysis. We support the network development and managed care contracting efforts by providing custom analysis of proprietary and publicly available data. Identify potential areas for medical cost improvements and alternative pricing strategies. Provides data in support of actuarial, financial and utilization analyses. The team has a broad range of expertise, including provider negotiations and contracting, financial analysis, and health care claims.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Industry thought leader to develop solutions that transform the industry
  • Subject matter expert on physician coordination of benefit claims and Transparency in Coverage data, to identify and gain consensus on approaches to address medical cost trends (e.g., contract remediation)
  • Identifies and implements appropriate analytic approaches/methodologies for large data sets to trend and forecast UnitedHealthcare's competitive position by provider group
  • Prepares presentations and presents findings to our business partners and providers
  • Provides explanations and meaningful interpretations within area of expertise
  • Team mentor/lead
  • Creates ad hoc analysis, reporting, and innovative solutions
  • Drive and manage large scale initiatives to improve product and services
  • Uses business writing skills to explain relevant analysis findings in a clear and concise manner
  • Develops best practice process and products based on rapidly changing healthcare environment
  • Works with IT to build ongoing reporting needs into the production environment

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Math, or relevant experience
  • 5+ years healthcare consulting experience, healthcare financial data analysis, interpretation, synthesis, and presentation to convey results and recommendations to internal/external partners
  • Experience with provider network pricing or provider network contracting or provider network management
  • Experience in Team management
  • Intermediate or advanced level of expertise MS Excel


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Analytical or visualization tools - Python, SQL, Tableau, Power BI
  • Knowledgeable and able to speak to emerging healthcare industry trends
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated excellent critical thinking skills and ability to pay attention to details
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, virtual team-oriented environment

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, Washington or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, Washington or New York City residents is $101,200 to $184,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
