Overview

At our SRI International office in Ann Arbor, MI, we are looking for a Principal Research Engineer who will have demonstrated expertise in remote sensing with particular emphases in EOIR and/or radar imaging system technologies and design, image processing and applied signal processing. This background will provide a basis for leading small engineering teams to develop state-of-the-art solutions to important client problems.



Responsibilities

This position is within the Advanced Technology and Systems Division (ATSD). The vision of ATSD is to create competitive advantages for our customers by inventing new technology and concepts resulting in disruptive, low cost, and high-performance solutions. The division advances the state of the art in diverse areas such as radar and electronic warfare; novel imaging technology; robotics; quantum sensing and metrology; marine technology; and applied optics.

Projects will include the development of advanced sensor concepts to exploit new and unique phenomenology, and the design of remote sensing experiments.

The work may also include:

    Formation and analysis of imagery products,
  • development of advanced signal processing tools for image understanding and imagery exploitation and the integration of data from multiple sources to enhance understanding.
  • They will lead client relationship building and business development activities. Will also lead proposal preparation in order to expand existing project portfolio.


Qualifications

  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or B.S. with 20+ years of experience of direct relevance to this position.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required along with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
  • In-depth knowledge of remote sensing phenomena.
    • Experience with active and passive sensor systems and the application of related processing algorithms is essential.
  • Proficient use of engineering analysis tools such as Matlab.
  • Solid communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership as related to this position.

The salary range is: $135,028.80-$200,856.15. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
