Quantum Photonics Consultant

The Challenge:

Imagine using your scientific and engineering skills to transform DoD research in optics and photonics. As part of our team, you'll serve as a strategic technical consultant to the Defense client, helping oversee the creation and execution of advanced government-funded research and development programs in microelectronics, including the latest quantum photonics technologies for disruptive applications in sensing, communications, and computing. You will have the opportunity to work with world-class scientists and engineers to shape national security investment through the development of cutting-edge technologies for military applications. You will leverage technical expertise to support senior DoD decision makers with the strategic evaluation of new concepts and assessments of technological gaps. You will support our client's mission by providing recommendations on the feasibility and potential impact of future research programs through preparing in-depth analyses, conducting background research, traveling to R&D facilities, and interfacing with the R&D community. You will work closely with government clients to track and evaluate the progress of sponsored research and communicate technical findings to a wide audience.

You Have:

  • 4+ years of experience in optics R&D, including graduate research work
  • Experience with integrated photonics or chip-scale photonic devices
  • Experience with technical communication
  • Knowledge of quantum physics and quantum optics
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Doctorate degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with precision measurement or quantum measurement
  • Experience designing, fabricating, or testing chip-scale photonic devices or circuits
  • Knowledge of nonlinear optics
  • Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication tools and processes
  • Ability to perform analytical optical physics modeling
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Secret clearance
  • Doctorate degree in Physics or EE

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $65,300.00 to $149,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
