Overview We are currently seeking an Environment, Product & Chemical Safety Specialist to join our corporate Headquarters in Melville, NY. The position is directly responsible for the environmental and chemical safety program regarding Canon-branded products for compliance and supports sales activities.
This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office Mondays and Wednesday and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days). Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs. Responsibilities - Assist with the performance, maintenance and improvement of environmental and chemical safety programs while collaborating with multiple business groups, such as the following;
- e-Waste recycling programs: Manage state recycling programs with Canon's recycling vendors to perform required state obligations such as registration, reporting, fee payment etc. - US Toxic Control Act (TSCA) related program: Assist with review and approval process for new chemical products with EPA - Product energy efficiency related program: Review and maintain Canon-branded product registration and compliance with multiple US state laws - EPEAT & ENERGY STAR related programs: Ensure conformance with EPEAT/ ENERGY STAR criteria with regard to Canon U.S.A.'s operations. Including information disclosure, reporting, support of take-back service, etc. - Serves as a subject matter expert for existing and emerging environmental and chemical safety regulations that may affect Canon-branded products - Liaises with regulatory and governmental agencies on environmental and chemical safety matters, as needed - Monitors the new laws and regulation related to environmental and chemical safety - Participates in industry association activities and committees to monitor regulatory updates and participate in industry wide initiatives Qualifications Please note: We comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, orders and mandates, including those we may be required to follow as a federal government contractor/subcontractor.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Environmental Science, Sustainability, Chemistry or a similar field) or equivalent experience required, plus 3 to 5 years of related experience supporting corporate environmental programs - Prior experience reading and reviewing regulatory requirements - Excellent written and oral communication skills - Ability to run effective meetings and accomplish tasks involving cross-functional teams The Company will not pursue or support visa sponsorship for this position.
