Job Title: Mechanical Build Supervisor Associate

Reports To: Plant Manager

Summary: This position is responsible for supervising the layout, build, assembly and integration of automated systems. Supervisor will establish a component list of mechanical items at the system level and will coordinate material purchase of materials required with the plant manager and SCM. Supervisor will also be responsible for the installation, modification, and repair of all tooling/systems and related mechanical content with varying designs and complexity. Will coordinate activities of machine builders, welders, painters and contract personnel and monitor manpower needs to achieve planned dates for project completion. This is a safety critical position and includes responsibility for all mechanical activities to ensure activities are executed in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities with the direction and assistance of assigned supervisor through the duration of the associate training program:


  1. Lead employees through effective communication, orientation, coaching, training, and development. Communicate areas of accountability and performance expected of employees. Recommend hiring, salary adjustments, transfers, discipline, promotions and dismissals in consultation with Human Resources.
  2. Day to day supervision and coordination of build/assembly activities for all mechanical equipment
  3. Day to day supervision of Machine Builders, welders and painters
  4. Manage accurate time reporting activities through the Paslin ERP System and monitor and instruct employees on correct procedures.
  5. Maintain whiteboards and project issues status throughout the life of a project
  6. Serve as specialist on the design, build, integration and installation of mechanical systems and equipment.
  7. Actively participate in engineering design and system layout reviews
  8. Lead efforts in diagnosing system malfunctions and prescribe repairs or changes in work and design practices
  9. Ensure tasks are executed in the most effective manner in regard to time, cost and function
  10. Review with personnel when mechanical problems are complex or may lead to extended downtime or high costs
  11. Schedule material and labor requirements for assigned jobs to meet planned timing
  12. Utilize "Gate Models" to manage projects
  13. Assist SCM in creating RFQ's for Paslin's system mechanical suppliers
  14. Plan and coordinate work in accordance with Paslin's work requirements utilizing drawings and manuals
  15. Report equipment and required documentation changes in line with company procedures
  16. Champion company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with safety procedures and practices good housekeeping
  17. Report or corrects unsafe working conditions or practices
  18. Ensure equipment is maintained in accordance with its hazardous area classifications
  19. Document and address behavior or work performance issues
  20. Some travel may be required for setup and installation of our systems
  21. Assist Plant Manager in conducting employee evaluations
  22. Perform all other duties, as assigned



Requirements:


  1. 5+ years proven mechanical experience building and integrating automated assembly systems
  2. 3+ years proven experience in leading / managing machine tool assembly teams
  3. High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  4. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and successfully layout equipment according to prints
  5. Team player, able to give / take direction and be self-motivated
  6. Experience working with controls engineers to support debug
  7. Possess own tools to perform tasks as required
  8. High regard for safety standards
  9. Knowledge of welding, automated assembly systems and tooling
  10. Knowledge of Mechanical Standards, tooling assembly & setup
  11. Working knowledge of windows and Microsoft Office tools
  12. Ability to effectively direct a large workforce and communicate with others
  13. Ability and willingness to travel for setup and installation of systems



Work Environment: This position operates in both an office and a shop/plant environment, may be required to work at multiple facilities dependent on workload.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and twist. Frequently required to lift/push/pull up to 50lbs.

Expected Hours of Work: This position regularly requires daily overtime hours and frequent weekend work.

Travel: May be required to work at another Paslin location (based on work availability). This position may also require some out of town and overnight travel, up to 10%.
