Position Summary

Provides technical advice and guidance as assigned by management. Typical job responsibilities include assisting and supporting management in evaluating a variety of technical, scientific, or engineering issues and advising management regarding feasibility, effectiveness, risk, compliance, operational impact and related considerations. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):

  • Provides technical evaluation, analysis and guidance to the N3B team in regards to the Groundwater Remediation Program
  • Consults with management personnel to define the operational issues, needs, and solutions
  • Defines and directs/performs research / experiments / studies, as necessary, to obtain meaningful data
  • Analyzes available data, defines data gaps, to provide information and insight regarding the research issue
  • Formulates solutions, evaluates options, develops recommendations / considerations
  • Documents applicable data/findings; presents findings and recommended solutions to management
  • Evaluates outcomes and provides follow-up guidance as appropriate
  • Performs duties general/routine to moderately complex in nature
  • Maintains knowledge of and demonstrates ability to perform work safely in accordance with all approved safety policies, procedures and applicable regulations and performs assigned duties in a safe manner
  • Ability to train and mentor staff

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):

  • 20+ years of technical, hands-on experience with groundwater remediation, numerical modeling and risk based adaptive management remediation strategies
  • directly applicable experience dealing with state and federal regulators
  • demonstrated project management and field operations experience

Education and Experience Required:

PhD or Master's degree in Hydrology, Science, Engineering, or related geo-science discipline, or equivalent combined with 20 years' relative experience.

Business Associations:

Serves as primary technical lead on projects or programs. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations. Serves as support to management and acts as external spokesperson for the organization on major matters pertaining to the program's plans and objectives.

Impact:

Effects of decisions are long-lasting and heavily influence the future course of the program. Decisions affect the financial and public relations posture of the organization. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in failure to achieve goals critical to the major objectives of the organization.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Normally assigned to perform work in an office environment. Only electrical hazards and other minor potential hazards normally found in an office environment are anticipated. Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the discipline. Office work environment.

While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, the Technical Advisor 6 will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner to include protecting the confidentiality and integrity of Personally Identifiable Information (PII). This role will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
