The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation's naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy's submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory includes the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories, the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and the Naval Reactors Facility which have proudly supported the nation since 1946. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory has nearly 8,000 employees working at primary locations in Pennsylvania, New York, South Carolina, and Idaho. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a highly motivated professional to join its Information Technology (IT) team. The successful candidate will work in a technically diverse and dynamic environment with a team of full stack software developers responsible for all aspects of software development of enterprise applications for the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for merging multi-site user community needs with available resources to develop and implement solutions that continue to add functionality, increase capacity, and improve performance of the IT services being provided.

Some of the duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

* Develop, test, and maintain intuitive enterprise software applications to meet the needs of the company.

* Collaborate with team members to determine best practices and client requirements for software applications.

* Design and develop applications from use cases and functional requirements.

* Participate in or lead the development of corporate standards and complying with existing corporate and industry standards.

* Resolve escalated software development Help Desk issues quickly and efficiently to ensure a productive workplace.

* Investigate, recommend, and implement new technologies.

* Aid and support the cross training of other team members.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience or;
  • Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience and knowledge of the Microsoft .NET framework including ASP.Net Core, C# and Entity Framework.
  • Relevant experience in other languages or frameworks such as Java EE, C and C++ will also be considered.
  • Experience with low-code/no-code solutions (Microsoft Power Platform or ServiceNow preferred).
  • Web technologies including JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
  • Experience using Microsoft Visual Studio as a .NET development environment and source control tools.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server and/or Oracle databases.
  • An understanding of Object Oriented Analysis and Design concepts.
  • Web API development.
  • Ability to design and implement tables, views, procedures, constraints, and relationships.
  • Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining full stack, service oriented, enterprise grade solutions on cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
