Description The Director of Finance of the Stein Eye Institute (JSEI) and the Department of Ophthalmology (Department) reports to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and as required to the Chair of the Department. The Director of Finance provides problem resolution as required for faculty, institutions, and UCLA departments; prepares annual budgets, monitors budget variances, and prepares various university financial reports. This position works closely with the Chair, CAO, and the School of Medicine to resolve financial problems and implement fiscal policies within the Department.
The Director is responsible for financial management and reporting for all locations of the Department including operations of Doheny Eye Centers (Pasadena,Arcadia and Orange Coast locations). Responsibilities involve:
* Monthly and quarterly clinical financial reporting for each clinic, including details on individual faculty, will require preparation to the Affiliation Oversight Committee (AOC - which includes management from both UCLA and Doheny)
* Quarterly calculations of amounts owed by Doheny to UCLA related to clinicoperations; annual financial reporting for each clinic individually and combined
* Quarterly review of research expenses (in conjunction with Doheny staff)
* Quarterly review of net research costs invoiced to UCLA
* Management of faculty salary allocation by fund
* Invoicing of all Basic Research and clinical grant funding requests to Doheny Eye Institute, and financial analysis as requested by the AOC.
The Director of Finance will prepare and present financial analyses, projections, and strategic plans to the CAO and Chair of the Department, and is the main responsible party for completing the budgeting processes and for preparing the financial report to the Board of Trustees of the Institute.
Pay Range: $101,200-202,600
Qualifications Required:
* Demonstratedresponsible experience of a minimum of five (5) years in a Senior Administrative and/or Financial position.
* Bachelor's Degree in a Business-related field, preferably in Finance or Accounting.
* Demonstratedadministrative, financial, planning and decision-making skills.
* Demonstratedexcellent financial analytical skills and the ability to review and interpretbudgets.
* Skilland experience in supervising staff including organizing work flow toaccomplish established objectives, delegating responsibilities, training andevaluating employee performance.
* Demonstratedability to view departmental problems, priorities and projects from a broadperspective.
* Skilland knowledge in creating and maintaining information systems as it related tofinancial data and organizational needs.
* Skillin negotiating, exchanging ideas, information and opinions with others toformulate policies and procedures and/or arrive jointly at decisions,conclusions, or solutions.
* Skillin working as part of a team; collaborating with colleagues.
* Demonstratedknowledge of generally accepted accounting and auditing procedures.
* Computer proficiency with advanced Excel skills(SQL and Tableau strongly preferred as well).
Preferred:
* CPA Certification.
* SQL and Tableau.
* Ability to create pivot tables andsummarize/analyze large amounts of data.
