This is a hybrid role working partially in-office and partially from home.

Ameritas Life Insurance Corp is seeking a Senior Actuarial & Risk Analyst to join our Corporate Actuarial team. This position will be part of a new team focusing on model validation and controls. This detail-oriented, results-driven individual will help drive the business through support for the actuarial function and staff, related to data, systems, and operational services. This position performs the duties of actuarial financial and risk reporting through close attention to detail, documentation, and research/ analysis of data and results. The role provides analysis and resolves moderately complex problems / issues on a timely basis, completely, and accurately. This position is for candidates who do not plan to pursue actuarial credentials through the SOA's actuarial exam process.

What you do

* Support certain aspects of the formal actuarial control framework
* Support detailed policy audit testing
* Document decisions made, processes put in place and other work performed
* Support process improvement projects
* Define and perform operational processes on a timely basis, completely, and accurately
* Access, retrieve and analyze data from various systems
* Prepare and analyze materials and communicate appropriately to internal customers
* Provide support for external information requests by auditors, state examiners, and rating agencies
* Create and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with appropriate standards
* Proactively manage work assignments
* Take ownership of assigned reports and projects
* Develop and perform calculations using moderately complex and less-defined processes
* Develop new procedures to improve on processes when appropriate
* Explores, examines, and interprets large amounts of data in various forms
* Assist with company data lake development and maintenance by validating data, assisting with data definitions, and documenting processes
* Identify, investigate, escalate, and track anomalies in data and/or systems used by Corporate Actuarial
* And additional duties as required.

What you bring

* Bachelor Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field or equivalent work experience
* 2-4+ years of audit, financial reporting or controls-related experience preferred
* Demonstrates a strong attention to detail, awareness of controls, and desire to improve processes
* Ability to work independently, solving moderately complex problems, and seeking guidance when needed
* Demonstrate understanding and working knowledge of internal data sources
* Possesses aptitude and interest in technology solutions for extracting data and report creation
* Works well with internal associates, third parties, and vendors to meet business objective
