Responsibilities

The Paramedic works in a 24 bed, full service Cardiovascular, Medical, and Neurovascular Intensive Care, treating ages above 18 years old. This role assumes the responsibility for assisting with the implementation of supportive nursing care under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Medical Director. Under the direction of a health care practitioner, the Paramedic provides patient care within a defined scope of practice that includes patient care/observation, specified treatments and procedures; provision of environmental and personal safety, and effective communication. The Paramedic will also be responsible to collect pertinent data within their certification scope of responsibilities and report these clinical, psychosocial, etc., findings to the RN or Intensive Care medical provider and charts appropriately. Works in collaboration with RNs and Medical Providers to provide patient care to adult medical patients utilizing advanced skills and judgment. Paramedics will be responsible for ECG interpretation, IV therapy, airway patency, and initiation of approved protocol orders and guidelines of patients in the Critical Care setting. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

High school education or equivalent

Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification.

Completion of basic arrhythmia (i.e. ECCO training module) or monitor tech class within 90 days or successfully passes dysrhythmia testing with 100%

Completion of essentials in IV training within initial 90 days

Preferred- 2 years' experience as a Paramedic in a pre-hospital environment.

Preferred- 1 year experience in a hospital setting as a paramedic

Required: Completion of an approved EMT-P program and current certification as a Paramedic in the state of Florida.

CPI Required within 6 months of hire

NIH Required within 6 month of hire
