Position Summary:

The Press Apprentice will assist with daily pressroom floor duties.

SHIFT: 6:00pm - 6:00am, rotating

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Pull stock and ink to press prior to make ready to promptly start job
• Keep press supplied with various necessary supplies - chemicals, rags, etc.
• Gum plates and inspect for damage, and complete appropriate stickers regarding damaged plates.
• File plates with proper plate sheets
• Maintain production of gumming machine
• Change and dispose of chemical barrels
• Clean up and keep work area neat and orderly
• Maintain shelves and organization of make-ready waste
• Dispose of garbage and recycling bins in press area
• Assists in outside maintenance when necessary
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to communicate/understand written as well as oral instructions
• Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions
• Reliability through attendance, punctuality and attention to workstation
• Demonstrates positive safety attitude

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1-year work experience in the same or functionally similar position

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to visually inspect all work for defects and distinguish colors.
• Frequent reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and stooping.
• Manual dexterity for repetitive work.
• Frequent walking and standing.
• Chemicals: Yes
