AES Ohio has an outstanding opportunity for anyone with technical skills. AES Ohio is an energy provider to about 500,000 customers in a 6,000 square-mile service area in Southwest-Central Ohio. The Distribution Operator controls and operates AES Ohio's electric distribution resources including circuit breakers, switches, voltage supervising equipment and other devices associated with the system.

AES provides on-the-job training on your job duties, including SCADA, Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, earn an AES Ohio certification (including independent learning and a final exam), and NERC requirements.

Your daily job duties include:

  • Coordination and direction of all switching operations on the mainline electrical distribution system for the AES Ohio service territory.

  • Respond to customer outages and dispatch calls to field crews.

  • Review daily repair schedule and coordinate with the field crews on electrical clearances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical field is helpful (math, science, or technology).

  • Associates degree showing a curiosity about math, or electrical theory, or previous work experience demonstrating basic electrical knowledge, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the field.

  • Complete company training program.

  • Ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry, and basic electrical theory.

  • Know how to use Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.

  • Able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

This position works a 12-hour shift. You will work a 2-2-3 schedule, which means you work two or three shifts in a row and have two days off each week. The shifts may be on the weekend or holidays. Please be able to stand some of the time.May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

This role is required to work on site in Dayton, Ohio. Relocation may be provided on a case-by-case evaluation.
