The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation's naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy's submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an experienced Engineering Technologist to join our Facilities Construction and Maintenance team in Niskayuna, NY!

As part of the team, the selected candidate will serve on the project team as a representative for service work, large and complex construction projects. The individual will act as the primary interface between NNL and the General Contractor and will be responsible for the execution, safety and coordination of subcontract activities required to successfully complete assigned projects on schedule and within budget. The Engineering Technologist will also complete a qualification as a Subcontract Technical Representative.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

  • High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of fourteen years of relevant experience or;
  • Associate degree in technical, engineering, or science-related discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of ten years of relevant experience or;
  • Bachelor degree in technical, engineering, or science-related discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of relevant experience

Preferred Skills

  • OSHA 30hr course
  • Understanding of OSHA 1910 General Industry Regulations and Standards
  • Understanding of OSHA 1926 Construction Regulations and Standards
  • HAZWOPER
  • Experience with mechanical systems, elevated work, lifting & handling, Crane work, asbestos abatement and excavations
  • Construction Field oversight experience
