The at Georgetown's McCourt School of Public Policy harnesses modern data and computing power to produce cutting edge research and improve public policy decision making.

Job Overview

The MDI Climate Modeler assists the implementation of climate models that advance sustainability research. They engage in research, development, and implementation of integrated, dynamical environment-economy toolkits that integrate interactions among macro-economics, climate change, mineral scarcity, and biomass distribution.

As well, they collaborate with Researchers in the Georgetown Environmental Justice Program to develop visual analytic tools.

Work Interactions

Reporting directly to MDI Director Lisa Singh and EJP Director Gal Giraud, who are responsible for this project, the MDI Climate Modeler interacts with researchers of the Georgetown Environmental Justice Program, other technical staff, faculty at other universities, and students.

Qualifications
  • BSc in Computer Science in a quantitative field (statistics, environmental science, climate science
  • At least minimum of 3 to 5 years of climate modeling experience
  • Proficiency with Fortran and Python
  • Ability to design and code software related to models independently


Preferred qualifications
  • Google, Amazon or Azure Cloud experience
  • An understanding of climate science
