Job Description

Responsible for providing technical direction and diagnostic expertise, assistance and training to all Customer Service personnel, and to the Sales operation to maximize revenue and customer satisfaction with core products and accessories provided with Sharp's products. Requires current, thorough knowledge of all assigned product applications, procedures, diagnostic methods and troubleshooting techniques, coupled with practical experience is required to enable the incumbent to properly and efficiently service all assigned equipment, including core business products and the accessories provided with Sharp's products. May be assigned a major territory, account or customer of significant impact or complexity.

Must be available for standby service outside of normal working hours of 7:00AM to 3:30PM Monday through Friday, including occasional weekends and holidays. Must provide own automobile and have adequate room to carry a large quantity of spare parts and tools.

This role requires 50% to 70% travel. When not traveling the role reports to the Germantown, WI location. The hours in the office range in start time and are many times flexible. We make every attempt to get time in office when needed for appointments.

Responsibilities

  • Upon request will travel and assist other service locations (distributors).
  • Ensures minimum errors or omissions in servicing equipment which may result in excessive customer calls, customer dissatisfaction and possible damage to the equipment.
  • Performs inspections and advises customers on methods to minimize downtime and interruptions.
  • Provides solutions to technical problems, is the expert service analyst on all assigned products and maintains knowledge of functions and applications of all products.
  • Coordinates complex equipment installations and follows through with customers to insure proper function of systems installed.
  • Accurately prepares required paperwork as assigned.
  • Assists in the quote process for jobs requested by the Sales department.
  • May prepare detailed design documentation, including accurate and comprehensive archival documentation on programs under development.
  • Helps maintain and control the parts inventory and service tool inventory. Monitors service billing to customers, assures proper records and reports completion of service work.
  • Tests, corrects and debugs operating routines, and assists others in doing the same.
  • Coordinates and supports field tests of new products, product updates or field change orders. Analyzes equipment performance and prepares necessary reports or records.
  • Assists, supports, and trains other members of the Machinery Division group in solving complex diagnostic problems and may also be assigned specific customers or accounts.
  • Assigned in-house repair of machines as needed.
  • Cooperates with the administration and sales department in attaining goals and objectives under the direction of the Director of Machinery.
  • Maintains an accurate and up to date record on all co-assigned parts and tool inventories.
  • May be assigned to other duties on a temporary basis for the purpose of increasing personal competence, providing assistance to other Machinery Division personnel or training and assisting less experienced personnel.
  • Understands and adheres to the financial and operations policies and procedures of the Machinery Division.
  • May develop moderately complex programs in assembly language, compiler language or PLC ladder logic which meet or support the objectives of the overall systems plan.

Experience and Skills

  • Associate's degree with a strong mechanical background or 3 to 5 years equivalent experience. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office application software.
  • 3 to 5 years in a position of assembler, factory service engineer or 5 to 7 years equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintaining instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities among peers.
  • Must have a current driver's license and maintain insurability.
