Duties
WHAT IS THE TAX EXEMPT AND GOVERNMENT ENTITIES (TE/GE) DIVISION? As part of the TE/GE division, you'll help customers understand and comply with applicable tax laws, and protect public interest by applying the tax law with integrity and fairness to all. TE/GE is designed to serve the needs of three very distinct customer segments: employee plans, exempt organizations and government entities. Ranging from small local community organizations and municipalities to major universities, huge pension funds, state governments, Indian tribal governments and more, they represent a large economic sector with unique needs. You'll answer four basic key customer needs: education and communication, rulings and agreements, examination and customer account service. Check out our video .

Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: You must have a bachelor's degree that included courses in actuarial science, mathematics, relevant statistics, business, finance, economics, insurance, or computer science totaling at least 24 semester hours. This course work must have included a minimum of 12 semester hours of mathematics that included differential and integral calculus and one or more courses in mathematics for which these calculus courses were prerequisites. OR A combination of education and experience that includes BOTH of the following requirements: (1) Technical work experience in actuarial support work or in mathematics, AND (2) Completion of a minimum of 24 semester hours of courses in actuarial science, mathematics, relevant statistics, business, finance, economics, insurance, or computer science at a four-year college or university. This course work must have included a minimum of 12 semester hours of mathematics that included differential and integral calculus and one or more courses in mathematics for which these calculus courses were prerequisites. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-14: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience that is related to the work of this position and has provided you with the competencies required for successful job performance. Qualifying experience demonstrates a wide range of experience of actuarial requirements and techniques pertinent to the work of an actuary, experience working in an accounting firm or an actuarial consulting firm where you analyzed employee plans and completed valuations in order to advise management on the required funding contribution and deductible limits in regards to employee plans, and experience giving presentations and/or instruction on actuarial requirements for employee plans to professionals within the actuarial community. Additional qualifying experience is experience performing pension work, analyzing difficult and complex matters related to issues and requests for rulings pertaining to the requirements under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), such as minimum funding standards, plan mergers and changes of actuarial funding methods.
