General Information
James Madison University's Facilities Management is accepting applications for full-time, day-shift, evening-shift, and night-shift housekeeping workers. Applications will remain active through June 22nd, 2023. Applicants will be contacted via phone or email as positions become available.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform regular and special cleaning of assigned areas using manual tools and power equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and auto scrubbers.
  • Understand and practice all university safety procedures, particularly as they relate to equipment operation and chemical use.
  • Participate in the university's trash/recycling program.
  • It is likely that staff will be moved on a regular basis, temporarily, to meet short-term business needs; such as summer cleans, special projects, shortages in other areas, etc.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform physically demanding job duties with or without an accommodation.
  • Ability to work with industrial-strength chemicals and equipment including buffers, scrubbers, and waxers.
  • Ability to clean materials containing bloodborne pathogens.
  • Effective time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail and basic customer service aptitude.
  • Positive interpersonal skills and willingness to work cooperatively in a team environment are essential.


Preferred:
  • Experience performing a variety of cleaning tasks preferred.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
