Senior Lead Construction Technician

Description

SPC, a subsidiary of GAI Consultants, is seeking a Senior Lead Construction Technician to perform construction inspection on a variety of Power Generation projects out of Warrenton, VA or Richmond, VA offices. The candidate will be responsible for interpreting specifications and construction drawings, evaluating site conditions based on soil and rock samples, monitoring and reporting on construction activities, and performing field testing of soils and concrete. The successful candidate will be expected to provide documentation of construction progress through daily reports, status reports, and other forms of data reporting.

Job Duties:



  • The candidate must have minimum of 3 years of construction experience with earthwork
  • Foundation inspection
  • Test boring inspection and concrete testing or a Degree in Geology, Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with Nuclear Density Gauge Testing, ACI Grade 1 Certification and OSHA 10-hour Training is desired.
  • Individual will be responsible for interpreting specifications and construction drawings
  • Evaluating site conditions based on soil and rock samples.
  • Monitoring and reporting on construction activities.
  • Performing field testing of soils and concrete.
  • Travel can be expected up to 50% of the time daily; mostly within Virginia, but possibly/infrequently North Carolina and West Virginia
  • Travel can be expect mostly to construction sites and on backroads.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelors of Engineering (required)
Bachelors of Geology (required)
Bachelors of Construction Management Services (required)
Experience
3 years: Construction experience with earthwork, foundation inspection, test boring inspection and concrete testing. (required)
Licenses & Certifications
Nuclear Gauge Safety Cert (preferred)
OSHA 10-Hour Construction (preferred)
Driver's License (required)
ACI Concrete Fld Test-G1 (preferred)
