Department Overview

The Maintenance Construction Services Department is responsible for the Project Management and Oversight (planning, implementation, and reporting) of various capital and expense improvements at Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP).

Position Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for oversight of the site service contractor in day-to-day operations to ensure safe and timely delivery of maintenance and modification activities.

Will be required to fill a rotation in the DCPP Emergency Response Organization (ERO) as necessary.

To obtain and maintain employment and unescorted access at DCPP, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a security background check, psychological screen, computer-based training, and be subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

A reasonable salary range is:
California Minimum: $143,000
California Maximum: $244,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee site service contractor to ensure they meet requirements regarding safety, technical quality, schedule and cost.
  • Coordinates project planning, resourcing, staffing, supply and subcontract management.
  • Attend weekly construction readiness meeting to ensure compliance with T-Week milestones.
  • Attend Outage readiness meetings to validate site service contractor milestones are met and appropriately resource loaded.
  • Monitors site service contractor performance and recommends schedule changes, cost adjustments or resource additions.
  • Provides guidance on project risk assessments and the development of contingency plans.
  • Oversees and provides guidance regarding technical and nontechnical problems throughout the life of the project.
  • Reviews and provides feedback on the accuracy and quality of information and status updates provided by site service contractor.
  • Develops budgets and evaluates how project plans' change impact cost and scheduling.
  • Issues stop-work order when adverse risk is identified. Communicates project statuses to next level of management.
  • Supervises day-to-day activities and resolves the most complex issues.
  • Manages department workload to ensure objectives are met and work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • 4 years of experience in construction, engineering, maintenance, and/or projects in a utility

Desired:

  • Possess Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management of related field and/or equivalent experience in construction/maintenance.
  • Experience in bid development and review.
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment, building materials, and construction standards.
  • Knowledge of contract terms and possesses the ability to generate/validate adherence to project specifications.
  • Experience with job tracking and demonstrated adherence to budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop schedules and experience with P6 scheduling software.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage complex projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendor workforce and contract management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets using PG&E provided tools, including SAP.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct project teams, including establishing and monitoring performance goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively managing and coaching direct reports, project team resources, and/or external vendor resources.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Excellent supervisory communication and organizational skills.
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working at a nuclear power plant.
