The Compliance & Contract Consultant is an individual contributor role that will be responsible to support Compliance programs spanning financial, licensing, regulatory filing, data use (Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning), and governance compliance matters across all UHC lines of business.

Accountabilities will include monitoring changes to the regulatory environment to ensure compliance with state and federal law, regulations, mandates, and contractual requirements. The position will establish and implement standard policies, procedures, and best practice across UHC. Other duties may include conducting legal research, supporting regulatory filings, and preparing contract amendments relating to intersegment agreements.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, regulatory affairs, business partners and other compliance professionals to promote compliant outcomes and mitigate risk with applicable regulatory and contractual requirements across multiple products
  • Evaluate Compliance program function and infrastructure to offer recommendations to drive improvement and build monitoring processes
  • Project manage multiple work plan initiatives as assigned by leadership that strive to achieve desired objectives under structured timeframes
  • Conduct research to identify applicable requirements relating to different product offerings, license types, use of data, and financial reporting requirements
  • Draft regulatory appendices and supporting process to ensure they are in accordance with all applicable regulation. Also will peer review other intersegment agreements to ensure quality
  • Influence, lead and collaborate within a matrixed Compliance, Legal and Regulatory team and with highly matrixed business partners across UHC, Optum and other delegated entities

Required Qualifications:



  • Degree or equivalent experience: Bachelors in Healthcare or Business and/or regulatory managed care experience
  • 5+ years of experience working in a government, healthcare, managed care and/or health insurance environment in a regulatory, or compliance role
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of data privacy, governance, licensing, filing and financial regulations that govern HMOs and other regulated license types



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Professional certification (Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or similar)
  • Contracting experience
  • Legal research / paralegal experience
  • Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial health insurance products

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $85,000 to $167,300. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
