Position Title: Regional Underwriting Manager

Business Unit: Credit

Reports to: Manager of Commercial Underwriting

Position Overview:

This position's primary responsibility is to manage, coach, train, and develop a regional team of underwriters/analysts who prepare financial analyses for current and prospective commercial loan customers. Leads team on all commercial loan transactions. Demonstrate excellent communication skills when reviewing underwriting and make recommendations as to the creditworthiness of borrowers to protect the Bank from loss. Participate in policy and problem solving discussions regarding credit structure, risk, and policy compliance. Incumbent provides the highest quality of service to every customer.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provides leadership to the regions served by being a positive contributor to the team including: ensuring regional team of analyst and underwriters are appropriately trained, developed, and aware of accountabilities and responsibilities, and provide guidance to less experienced deal team members.

Manages, distributes, and monitors workflow for assigned regional team of analysts and underwriters who may be in multiple locations throughout the region. Reviews output from direct reports and makes recommendations for improvements. Provides training and guidance in completion of credit analyses for direct reports.

Provide recommendations using results from financial analysis, an appropriate loan risk rating for all contemplated facilities and resolves differences with Portfolio Manager and Relationship Manager when appropriate.

Analyzes the creditworthiness of corporate and/or investment real estate borrowers and syndications. Identifies key credit issues and prepares a complete written analysis in accordance with bank policies and procedures, including accurate and timely completion of FOCUS underwriting document and all components thereof with no oversight.

Occasionally work with internal customers on transaction prescreens for early identification of credit issues as well as providing structural, analytical, and indicative risk assessment along with participation in external bank meetings.

Works on internal projects as assigned and provide meaningful input to enhance current process and procedures. The incumbent is expected to be active in group wide training at least one time a year for the Commercial Underwriting Team.

Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
