Druck Limited design and manufacture a range of sensing instrumentation and sensors that are utilized in a vast array of market segments. Druck is a Sub-Division of Baker Hughes.

Druck Limited has a vacancy for a Lead Engineer to join the Aerospace Engineering Team, which consists of a multi-disciplinary team of Engineers. The team develops products to support a growing the Aerospace business through both Custom Product Opportunities (CPO) and New Product Introductions (NPI).

The team designs innovative pressure sensors supporting projects from cradle to grave, working closely with all other functions, such as sourcing, advanced manufacturing, and quality, as well as with our UK and China based production facilitates.

Formal Role Summary/Purpose:

The Lead Engineer - Aerospace will be located in Twinsburg, Ohio where a small new team will be established to support our US sales and customer service footprint. The role is primarily responsible for mechanical design aspects of our pressure sensing products for Aerospace/Defense applications. The design cycle will require regular, in-depth technical discussions of the applications with the customers, particularly in the United States. This will require some travel in support of face-to-face technical discussions with customers. Some of the designs will involve defense applications that fall under export control regulations and therefore require US persons that can handle export controlled materials. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will also suggest areas for improvement in internal processes, create solutions, and help to streamline design processes.

Essential Responsibilities

In the role of Aerospace Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Evaluating customers' mechanical specification and interface requirements, and assess if an existing design can be used or a modification is required.
  • Helping customers troubleshoot mechanical issues with field installations
  • Mechanical design of pressure sensing components to be used in a wide range of Aerospace/Defense applications
  • Designing Change Initiation and implementation in accordance with Configuration Control procedures.
  • Providing manufacturing technical support and solutions for production related problems
  • Having a high standard of documentation for evidence of conformity and technical explanation.
  • Reviewing design specifications and requirements capture
  • Supporting external customers, internal sales and marketing functions
  • Developing and advancing internal operating procedures.
  • Work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary Druck Aerospace team.
  • Develop novel mechanical designs, either as improvements to existing designs or from scratch.
  • Ensure mechanical component and system designs have appropriate analytical verification, production level validation, and field-testing.
  • Leverage modelling techniques (such as FEA) to accelerate design cycle
  • Ensure that proper DFSS and DFM rigor has been applied throughout the design process.
  • Working with other engineers, and technicians in a team environment to foster a creative workplace, allowing for new ideas while embracing speed and excellence.
  • Documenting work products in written form, e.g. technical notes/Wikis, design specifications and practices, journal publications
  • Ensuring compliance with all export control and technical regulations and standards related to US Aerospace/Defense applications

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Technology or Engineering role
  • Minimum 3 years of expertise in Mechanical Design
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Software packages (Word, Excel, Power point etc)
  • Experience with dynamic qualification (vibration and shock, HALT/HASS)
  • Ability to work across continents with remote engineering and sales teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
