Mechanical skill sets - ability to operate equipment and troubleshoot if required. Ability to repair equipment under the direction of the Director or Vendor. Fine motor skills for the set-up of cutting devices. Experience working in a control environmental food or micro lab. Experience with sanitation operations. |
Position Summary |
The position of
UGA FoodPIC Research professional entails all aspects of developing product and performing services for clients. Thus, the job itself requires knowledge of food science, regulatory expectations, and customer development. This particular position will have an operational focus and involve running equipment including pasteurizers, sterilizers, fillers, and other processing unit operations. The position will have accountability for writing and performing Standard Operating Procedures in machine operation, sanitation, and post run quality control. |

- Knowledge of Food Microbiology, Chemistry, and Unit Operations. Unit operations include pumping, heating, mixing, retorting, pasteurization, and filling.
- Skill sets involve ability to understand and operate complicated equipment.
- Writing and Documentation competencies are needed.

Fine motor skills for device set-up. Keen eyesight and observation for machine set-up. Lift a 50 lb. bag. Standing work for the entire operational day. |

Working with other staff members and customers to develop food processing and product development test trial plans. Operation of MicroThermics, Retort, Cutting Equipment, Mixing Equipment, and Heating Equipment. This includes maintaining a clean and orderly equipment storage room according to 6S standards. |

Room and Equipment Sanitation. This involves ensuring that all room and equipment meets FoodPIC quality standards and to ensure that food made at FoodPIC is microsafe. Environmental Monitoring will be conducted at FoodPIC, so it is expected that there is good communication between this responsibility and
EMP monitoring responsible parties. |

Record Keeping of Operations & Writing Reports. This involves keeping run records required to appropriately document test and production runs, but also to fulfill all regulatory requirements. PQCI and
