Position Summary |
Assigned tasks will address applied field-based and laboratory research in grapes, apples, and peaches with the goal of developing recommendations for the grape, apple, and peach industries throughout Georgia, South Carolina, and the southeastern US as it pertains to entomological pressures.
The successful incumbent will work with Dr. Brett Blaauw (Southeastern Peach Entomology Lab). The assistant will support the Research Technician (Jordan Breedlove) and graduate student research and aid in the execution of field research, data collection, rearing of insect colonies, and general lab maintenance.
The successful incumbent will assist in the coordination of applied on-farm and field research trials as well as laboratory research and data collection. The incumbent will also be responsible for becoming a team member of the Entomology department. They will be encouraged to be creative, scientific, and flexible in the execution of duties and tasks assigned to them.
Work will take place on campus in the laboratory, as well as out in the field at the Horticulture Farm, and in commercial orchards and vineyards across Georgia and South Carolina. |

Perform routine maintenance on field trials, including installation of traps, maintenance of insect traps, collection of insects, and if necessary pesticide cover sprays. |
