Position Summary |
The individual will produce and analyze turfgrass biotechnology, as part of an overall project on turf development as well as produce and analyze soybean tissue as part of an overall project on soybean genome editing technology. This will include gathering tissues and establishing tissue cultures, establishment, care, preparation and analysis of the plants; collecting data, keeping and submitting records of materials processed, preparing monthly progress reports; supervision and training of undergraduate students. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Knowledge in gene editing using both CRISPR/Cas9 and CRISPR/Cas12a and plant transformation of grasses.
- Sterile technique and molecular analysis (including DNA isolation, PCR, library preps); plant tissue and cell culture.
- Plant husbandry.
- Competency in analyzing genome editing.
- Quantitative genetics with programming skills for statistical analyses, and high throughput sequencing data analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as excellent writing skills as demonstrated by a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
- Ability to publish in the field of plant molecular genetics and/or genomics.

- Some lifting up to 25lbs.
- Plant and care for soybean plants in the greenhouse in hot and cold temps, including lifting pots and moving pots and soil.
- Occasional field work.
- Driving as needed to perform job duties.
