Preferred Qualifications |
- Master's Degree in higher education, college student affairs, counseling, or related field. Completion of a Juris Doctor is preferred.
- At least five (5) years of administrative and appropriate program experience (i.e. student conduct at an institution of higher education) preferred.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekend hours.

Position Summary |
The Associate Director for Student Conduct reports directly to the Director for Student Conduct and assists with the management of the University's conduct process. The Associate Director handles cases of alleged conduct regulation violations from intake through resolution and manages the case assignment process within the office. The Associate Director manages the office budget, supervises two Assistant Directors for Student Conduct and one Administrative Services Manager, and assists the Director in providing oversight to the Investigator for Student Conduct. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment while maintaining effective working relations with members of the University community.
- Understanding of student development concepts and the ability to utilize them in student conduct matters.
- Understanding of the role of student conduct at a large, complex institution.
- Knowledge of higher education conduct issues, policies, and due process.
- Background supervising employees and advising student organizations preferred.
- Must possess computer knowledge and skills and be able to utilize word processing, email, internet, and calendar and database programs.
- Ability to manage active caseload and assigned case management responsibilities, including balancing time demands well.

Case Management and Hearing Facilitation
- Receive and review reports of alleged student misconduct and independently determine appropriate response and resolution to conduct matters, including no action, informal resolution or formal resolution, and work with students and student organizations toward appropriate resolution, up to and including separation from the University.
- Participate as an investigator during formal resolution processes and assist Director in providing oversight to other staff members also conducting investigations.
- Coordinate and facilitate student sexual misconduct hearings while providing assistance to the Director as needed, including scheduling hearings and corresponding and meeting with parties to explain hearing procedures.
- Plan and assist in ongoing and annual training for University faculty/staff serving on sexual misconduct hearing panels.
- Manage case assignments for Office of Student Conduct (OSC) staff.
- Review decisions of University Judiciary hearing panels to ensure compliance with University System of Georgia policies.

Supervision, Training, and Advisement Oversight
- Supervise, train, and evaluate two Assistant Directors for Student Conduct and one Administrative Services Manager.
- Actively engage in the development, engagement & retention of each staff member.
- Provide oversight to the advisement of University Judiciary and the Executive Council for the organization, maintaining an active awareness of all aspects of the organization's operation and functionality.
- Attend University Judiciary events, including Executive Council meetings, General Body meetings, annual and periodic retreats, and outreach events, as needed.
- Provide oversight for the training and continuing education of University Judiciary members, including playing an active role in the for-credit training class required for membership in the organization.

General Administrative Responsibilities
- Manage the OSC budget and Foundation accounts, and oversee office expenditures.
- Oversee and coordinate OSC's processes of providing outreach and education regarding the conduct process for students, faculty/staff, and/or community members including any programs offered during Orientation.
- Oversee the development of departmental or divisional reports (such as the annual report, Clery reports, priority planning, case summary statistics, staff credentialing, and biennial alcohol review).
- Oversee the creation, implementation, and facilitation of Office of Student Conduct learning experiences.
- Oversee development and maintenance of published materials for the OSC, including departmental webpage.
- Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with various departments on and off campus, including University of Georgia and Athens-Clarke County police departments.
- Participate in weekly one-on-one meetings with supervisor.
- Participate as a member of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).
- Participate in various Division and University committees.
