Prototype Project Manager

Job Purpose

Dana is looking for an energetic and experienced individual to assist in launching new programs for Dana's Sustainable Mobility Center (SMC). SMC is a world class training, prototype, and testing facility and this role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of new program launch, including procurement of equipment, tooling, and materials.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

* Develop, update, and complete the following, but not limited to; Open Issues Status Reports, Program Timelines, Program/Evidence Books, Program Kick-off Books, Supplier Risk Assessments, Program Risk Management, Capacity Studies, APQP Status Reports, Change Logs, Lessons Learned (TGW/TGR), Customer Surveys, EH&S reviews, Customer Milestone Summaries, Launch Status Reports and Stage Gates.

* Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.

* Ensure the product is designed to meet Dana's requirements for mass production manufacturability.

* Assist in the development and maintenance of quality documentation including Process Flow diagrams, PFMEA's, DFMEA's, Control Plans, APQP checklists, and Work Instructions.

* May assist in various job duties of the Product, Manufacturing, Process and Quality Engineering disciplines to support the team members in completion of critical path tasks and/or workload sharing.

* Champion regular cross functional Program Launch Team meetings to review the program schedule and assign resources to address any open issues.

* Ensure that the adequate resources are assigned to all project tasks. Elevate deficiencies to the appropriate management staff.

* Ensure all team members follow the Dana Change Management Policy to guarantee all changes and issues are properly managed in all functions including finance, sales, purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing.

* Identify program risks and establish suitable contingency plans with the team.

* Act as lead Plant stakeholder contact and participate with specific customer contacts to ensure all their program related inquiries and requirements are addressed.

* Keep track of all costs associated with program including material, processing costs, tooling, gauges, and customer owned tooling for cost recovery where applicable.

* Participate in problem solving activities as related to the program.

* Ensure all production/manufacturing targets and financial assumptions are met.

* Assure the timely completion of Engineering trials with Manufacturing and Engineering.

* Ensure the plant team's participation in the development and understanding of the quoted/assumed production process so they may successfully launch and maintain the process through production.

* Maintain effective communication with all disciplines.

* Work with suppliers to communicate Quality Expectations and data requirements for material purchased and supplier processes performed. Coordination with Dana Quality Engineer with consideration of this objective.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Engineering, Business, or technical field preferred.

* 3+ years of experience performing program coordination or program management within the automotive industry preferred.

* Varied multi-disciplined experience.

* Experience as a customer contact preferred.

* Experience and background in finance and engineering preferred.

Skills and Competencies

* Strong project management skills and leadership abilities.

* Proficient in the use of MS Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

* Proficient in the understanding of Engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.

* Ability to successfully function in a matrix style of management, managing a variety of cross-functional team members.

* Excellent organizational and follow-up skills; competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making; and shows aggressiveness when completing assignments and other responsibilities.

* An understanding of financial analysis concepts and budget management.

* Familiar with interpretation of component and assembly drawings and Engineering Specifications. Thorough understanding of GD&T a must

* Knowledge and previous use of basic MRP (SAP) system functions a plus
