Job Description

Decontamination of equipment and cards (medic or isolation) returned from the Nursing units.

Retrieving soiled instruments from the Nursing units.

Change proteolytic enzyme cleaner on the Nursing units every five days.

Decontamination of instrumentation received from areas within the hospital and outside agencies.

Sealing decontamination boxes and making new ones as needed (DGH only).

Ordering of supplies needed to fulfill job responsibilities.

Assemble fluffs, kling, rondec, towels, etc. for sterilization.

Stock medic cart after use and return to pharmacy.

Stock isolation carts.

De-lint towels.

Fold linen and spunguard for storage.

Run Bowie Dick and biological tests, and record appropriately.

Count, wrap and process instrumentation for sterilization.

Document accurately processing information of loads.

Restock service cart, isolation, crash, specialty, etc. as needed.

Provide and maintain a clean work environment on a daily basis.

Functions cooperatively as a team member. Responds as directed by the Charge Nurse to the changing needs of patients and the unit.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Strives to achieve excellence of service as described in the CARE Manual.

Responds to the following Shore Health System codes: Code Pink (when called), Code Red (when called) and Code D (when called).

Responsible for honest behavior in all matters. To the best of the employee's knowledge and understanding, complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations.

Maintains the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information. Uses and discloses only that information which is necessary to perform the function of the job.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Certification and/or previous experience are preferred.
