Job Description

STS Aerospace in Laconia, NH is searching for a QualityTechnician- CMM Operator to join the team. This position plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality control and quality assurance of tools, materials, and products by performing the following duties. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and with reasonable accommodation when necessary.

Duties & Responsibilities

Performs a wide range of metrology activities that include:



  • Dimensional inspection and analysis of products, fixtures, tooling, and Mylar overlays using CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) techniques, software, and equipment
  • Calibration of inspection, test, and process control equipment and gages in accordance with established customer and industry requirements.
  • Experience in using measuring instruments, i.e., caliper, micrometers, height gages, etc.


Dimensional Inspection and Analysis: Receiving Inspection



  • Creates plans and performs measurement activities for product inspection in Receiving Inspection.
  • Develops and implements measurement techniques using a variety of gages, devices, and equipment to ensure accurate and effective product verifications.
  • Develops and implements software programs for advanced inspection equipment (i.e., vision systems, direct computer control CMM systems)
  • Provides training and coaching to others in the use of measuring techniques and set-ups to perform product verifications


Dimensional Inspection and Analysis: CMM



  • Performs measurement activities for CMM verification of products, fixtures, tooling, and mylar overlays.
  • Implements measurement techniques and software programs for bridge and portable CMM equipment
  • Provides training and coaching to others in the use of advanced measuring equipment (CMMs) and techniques
  • Assists engineers and other technical resources in formulating measurement verification plans for fixtures, tools, and products including first article inspections.


Calibration of Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE)



  • Creates plans and performs calibration activities for measuring and test equipment as requested.
  • Works with Gage Room personnel to Maintain an effective calibration recall and control system that provides for identification, traceability, and history of calibrated measurement and test equipment and fixtures throughout the business.
  • Assists the DSQR Supervisor to coordinate and manage outside calibration services on an as needed basis.

The Individual

Education, Certifications, Licenses, & Registrations
Associatesdegree or two to five years related experience in the use of advance metrology techniques, equipment, and software (PC-DMIS preferred).
