Inside the Role

The Automation Methods & Systems Integration Engineer's main objective is to develop and implement automation methods that increase testing efficiency. This includes systems integration of hardware and workflow processes necessary to autonomously support the performance and durability test area running at their peak efficiency and to ensure the quality of data generated meets the expectations of the engineering customer user. This includes overall management of the automation methods, tools and processes, interfacing directly with development engineers to capture their requirements, and interfacing directly with the performance, durability and special test engineers/ technicians to support setup and execute test successfully. This person will be responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing automation methods and workflows that replace or modernize the automation systems responsible for unmanned testing of the performance test rooms to achieve monthly KPI goals. Also, this person will be responsible to be active in test center innovation projects focused on process standardization, workflow connectivity involving cross-functional collaboration with engineering customers and the vehicle engineering pilot center.

Position offers a starting salary range of $90,000- $115,000

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Analyze, design, and develop test procedures to support DVP&R and Certification activities
  • Apply engineering principles to performance systems test design and setup
  • Ensure test methods are compliant with Carb, EPA CFR regulation
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to engineering technicians and test engineers on test system trouble calls
  • Identify and support continuous improvement in areas of test automation, measurement and data integrity
  • Define and establish regular reports on test system and trouble call metrics
  • Author and maintain documentation on test systems and procedures
  • Collaborate with local IT groups and global IT partners to support test system PCs, time-critical software, and network architecture

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Mechanical\Electrical Engineering/Technology and 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of engine dynamometer test systems, test automation, and sub-system integration
  • Familiarity with controls programming, real time controllers, and data acquisition systems
  • Familiarity with basic test and diesel exhaust measurement instrumentation and sensors (emissions systems, thermocouples, pressure, accelerometers)
  • Ability to work with multiple groups and demonstrate strong verbal, written communication skills

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Knowledge of vehicle CAN, SAE J1939, LIN protocols preferred
  • Experience in identifying and solving root cause of complex problems
  • Understanding of principles or detailed operation of alternative powertrain systems
